The genesis of ‘AutoWeek’ was in fact the birth of the large format automotive themed newspaper ‘Competition Press’ in 1957. In 1962, Competion was re-branded as ‘Competition Press and AutoWeek’, before, in 1975, the Competition Press part of the name was dropped completely, and good old ‘AutoWeek’ as we know it now was officially born. At this time however, AutoWeek was still published in a large 16x12in size newspaper format, before, in October of 1985, Krause Publications changed AutoWeek to the now standard magazine format of 8×11-inches.
Porsche have been featured on the cover of many issues of AutoWeek and we hope to show as many of them as we can on these pages. Although, at the moment, the archives do not hold any of the pre-1962 copies of Competition Press. So if you have any you are willing to donate, please contact us on library@auto-archives.org
